Everything You Need to Know to Throw the Best Wild West Party this Side of Texas

Everything is bigger down south; the drawl, the hair, the makeup and, (yep, you guessed it), the Wild West Party! So here are our POMP surefire tips to rock your next wild west themed event.

SIGNATURE DRINK: Cowboy Margarita

Yes partner, margaritas may sound conventional for us tobacco chewin’, horse wranglin’, poker playin’ rebels, but I got to say…these are mighty good. So hitch your horse, pitch your tent, and wrestle out of those pesky chaps. It’s time to criss cross applesauce under the wester stars and dream about your next successful bank robbery while enjoying this little treat. Here’s the recipe…

3 equal parts of: tequila, limeade & light beer
A sprinkle of self, of course

Blend with a handful of ice until smooth. Garnish with lime slices and fresh cut cilantro.

SIGNATURE FOOD: Chaps Chilli

Parties cannot live by beauty alone so here is POMP’s favorite knock your boots off vegetarian chili. Consider yourself loved.

1/2 white onion chopped
2 celery stalks chopped
2 bay leaves
Tsp cumin
2 tbsp oregano
1 tbsp salt
1 tbsp pepper
2 fresh jalapeños chopped
3 minced garlic cloves
2 4 ounce cans of green chopped chillies
2 green bell peppers chopped
24 ounces vegan burgers crumbled
3 28ounce cans crushed tomatoes
1/4 cup chili powder
15 ounce can of kidney, garbanzo and black beans
15 ounce can of whole kennel corn.

Cook garlic, bay leaves, cumin salt, oregano, and onion until tender. Add jalapeños, celery, bell pepper, and green chili. When tender mix in veggie crumbles, cover and simmer for 7 minutes. Add tomatoes, chili powder, and pepper and simmer for 45 minutes or until tender. Add beans and corn and cook 7 minutes before serving. Garnish with a dollop of sour cream and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro.

WILD WEST PARTY DECOR

You want things to be cozy and rustic. Loads of candles, hay and all things wooden and tin. Here’s a sneak peak into our Cowboy photoshoot. And, shoot, if you live in Ohio you can rent all of these items at POMP! Lucky you! We kept the vibe dark and moody. Added in a few hints of red and white, some staple props like hay, a vintage sofa, poker table, pump organ, chandelier (we keep things classy in these parts) and a life-size stage coach. We also spruced up the watering hole with a BAR marquee, and red vintage wine glasses. People came in their western finest and partied the night away.
